A nine-year-old boy had a lucky escape when he was hit by a van in Uxbridge.

He escaped with only a grazed knee after being involved in a collision with the vehicle, in Cowley Road, near to the junction with Ferndale Crescent, at around 3.40pm on Tuesday (February 17).

The London Ambulance Service sent a single responder, a car and an ambulance crew to the scene and took the boy to Hillingdon Hospital as a precaution.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "He is reported to have just a slight graze to his knee.

"It's very lucky."
