New data showing the average morning rush-hour speed of west London’s slowest A roads have been released.
The figures showing average speeds in June this year reveal the worst road to get stuck on is the A400 northbound, in Westminster, where traffic crawled along at an average speed of 3.8mph.
The second slowest stretch of road in the area is the eastbound portion of the A306, in Hammersmith & Fulham, where morning speeds only reach 4.6mph on average, while in third place, is the A4007 eastbound, in Hillingdon, with an average speed of 5.7mph during rush hour.
The stats, released by Department for Transport and studied by getwestlondon's data unit, also show the average speed of morning rush hour A roads in each west London borough, in June this year, is down on the same time last year, meaning the capital's roads are getting more and more congested.
The roads making up the Top 10 Roads to Hell are dominated by Westminster and H&F highways, with the two boroughs accounting for eight of the entries.
At the other end of the scale, the quickest A road during rush hour in west London is the A40 westbound, in Kensington & Chelsea, where average rush-hour speeds reach a rapid 42.2mph.
The slowest stretch of A road in the whole of England is the A407 westbound, in Barnet - just over the border from Harrow - where cars travelled slower than walking pace, at an average of 2.8mph, during morning rush hour in June.
