West London passengers travelling in and out of London Waterloo station should expect long rush hour delays after a line side fire caused a string of cancellations and delays on Monday (December 11).

All circular trains to and from London Waterloo via Teddington and Strawberry Hill have been cancelled for the rest of the day.

The cancellations poses problems for those travelling into central London from Hounslow and the surrounding areas.

A fire just outside Waterloo affected the 650-volt cabling powering the lines shortly after 11am, causing major delays across all lines.

Trains were diverted from platforms 1-3 which led to long queues throughout the afternoon.

Passengers on South Western Railway (SWR) were urged to avoid the network completely to avoid the travel chaos.
