Central London Parks were closed across Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster after fallen trees and branches littered West London's green spaces.

Hammersmith and Fulham council are responding to 21 fallen tree reports. A spokesman for the council said: "The council and emergency services are dealing with a number of fallen trees this morning. Action is being taken to clear roads and make these areas safe.

"Thames Water are also dealing with a burst water pipe at the junction of Askew Road and Uxbridge Road which is causing some minor traffic disruption. "Other debris is being cleared as rapidly as we are able. Thank you to all the residents who have helped us by reporting incidents and looking after their streets and neighbours. All parks in the borough will be open from 10.30am."

A crane also collapsed on top of the cabinet office.

Cllr Nickie Aiken, Westminster Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Protection said: “We are dealing with the effects of the storm in central London – our clean teams have been out on the streets since the early hours of the morning to clear away debris and leaves to make sure it isn’t slippery under foot. Around 15 trees have lost large branches on Bayswater Road and Westbourne Terrace near Hyde Park. We have cordoned off the area under the trees, but we urge the public not to walk underneath fallen branches.”
