French national Sebastien Belanger has been named as one of the eight people who were killed in the London Bridge terror attack on Saturday night (June 3).

The 36-year-old was living and working in the capital.

According to the Met Police , specially trained family liason officers are supporting his family.

Eight people lost their lives and 48 were left injured after three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge, before stabbing people in bars and restaurants in Borough Market.

Three other people who lost their lives have been officially named by police.

They are 30-year-old Canadian national Christine Archibald , 28-year-old nurse Kirsty Boden , and 21-year-old Australian nanny Sara Zelenak .

The Met Police increased the death toll to eight after a man's body was recovered from the River Thames.

It comes after an appeal was launched to find Xavier Thomas, a French national, who had not been seen since the attack.

Witnesses accounts suggested it was possible that Mr Thomas was struck by the van, causing him to fall into the water.

Formal identification has not yet taken place.
