Loaded guns and thousands of pounds worth of watches were seized in Acton by police this week.

Acting on intelligence, officers from the Met’s Trident gang unit swooped on an address in Horn Lane, Acton, at around 1.40pm on Tuesday (February 24) where they found two semi-automatic handguns with loaded magazines

A 29-year-old was arrested near the scene and remains in custody at a west London police station.

At the same time, police searched an address in Multi Way, Acton, where they seized about £10,000 in cash and a number of high-value watches worth about £60,000.

In another search, this time in Hayes, officers charged Ali Hussain, 23, of Townfield Road, with possession of a Section 5 firearm, possession of class A drugs and possession of section one ammunition. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Kingston Crown Court on March 10.

This sawn-off shotgun was found in a car in Peckham

On the same day, at 5.30pm, Trident officers stopped a vehicle in Nigel Road, Peckham, and found a sawn-off single-barrelled shotgun and ammunition in a rucksack. A 24-year-old was arrested at the scene and remains in custody at a south London police station.

Detective Chief Superintendent Gordon Allison, of Trident and Area Crime Command, said: “These arrests and seizures are an example of officers from the Met’s specialist units acting on fast-time intelligence, and they highlight the bravery of police officers in confronting armed criminals who pose a high risk to the local community.
