A man in his 20s has been shot and killed on the streets of Harlesden last night (November 2).

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the shooting on Tynsdale Road in Harlesden just before 11pm.

Armed police officers attended the location and found a man with gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the second young man to be gunned down in the neighbourhood, following the murder of Oliver Tetlow earlier this year in nearby Church Road on March 9.

Statement from London Ambulance service

London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to the scene at around 10.40pm but tragically Mr Owusu died despite the efforts of paramedics.

A spokesperson for LAS said: “We were called at 10.41pm on Wednesday (November 2) to reports of a shooting in Tynsdale Road.

“We sent an ambulance crew, two single responders in cars and an incident response officer to the scene. The first of our medics arrived at the scene in under eight minutes.

“Sadly, despite the extensive efforts by our crews a person died at the scene.”

Neighbours have recalled the shooting and the moment the police knocked on the window after James Owusu was gunned down on his doorstep.

Shocked neighbours thought bangs were fireworks

A neighbour from nearby Crome Road, who asked not to be named, said they thought the bangs were fireworks.

They said: “I was in bed watching TV and we heard banging noises and because there was fireworks before, we thought it was jusy fireworks.

“Woke up this morning to take my daughter to school and we see police taping.”

Heavy police presence

There is still a large police presence on the scene of the shooting in Tynsdale Road.

Forensics teams in white suits are currently investigating the spot where the shooting took place in the quiet residential street.

Police statement

Here is the full statement from the Metropolitan Police released earlier this morning:

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 22:45hrs on Wednesday, 2 November, to reports of a shooting in Tynsdale Road, NW10.

Local officers and firearms officers attended the location and found a man in his 20s with gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

No arrests have been made and enquires continue.
