The first live broadcasts from the former BBC studios in White City will take place in November.

Live from Television Centre will feature a series of performances by young theatre companies across a two hour live broadcast on BBC Four on Sunday 15 November 2015 at 9pm. Islington Community Theatre will create a fifth performance released exclusively on BBC iPlayer the same day.

The project is a partnership between the BBC, Battersea Arts Centre and Arts Council England in a collaboration with independent theatre-makers from across England.

All will be filmed in Studio One and the Drama Block at Television Centre, the headquarters of BBC Television between 1960 and 2013.

Live from Television Centre is part of the BBC’s On Stage - a season of programming across the BBC that celebrates all of Britain’s theatre talent, from world-class actors to cutting-edge regional theatre.

Television Centre, which is being redeveloped by Stanhope Plc as a mix of 950 new homes, offices, cafes and restaurants.

Alistair Shaw, Managing Director of Television Centre , said: “Stanhope is very excited to bring live broadcasting back to Television Centre and we look forward to hosting four of the most exciting young theatre companies in the UK as they create new site-specific works for BBC4.

“The BBC will be returning in 2017 to operate three refurbished studios and remain a large part of the Television Centre story, alongside the 950 new homes, Soho House hotel, restaurants and public spaces that this development will bring to White City."
