Video footage of four men attempting to carry out a smash and grab on a Knightsbridge store before escaping on mopeds has been released by Metropolitan Police.

The attempted break-in took place outside a shop in Cheval Place on September 22.

Police were called to the incident involving two mopeds at 10.30am.

CCTV footage shows four suspects, all dressed in black and wearing helmets, pull up outside the store.

Three of the men attempted to kick through the store’s door, while the fourth blocked the road.

Two members of staff and a customer were inside the shop at the time and sounded the alarm.

The suspects were unsuccessful in gaining access to the shop and left the scene empty handed.

On September 27 an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He has since been bailed to a date in late October.

Detective Constable Lucy Gallimore, from Kensington and Chelsea CID, said: "We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward and speak to police.

"The CCTV we are releasing captures the suspects outside the store. You may recognise the bikes they are riding or perhaps the clothing and helmets they are wearing."
