More action is needed at a government level after a man in North Acton became the latest victim to die of a stabbing in west London, Ealing Central and Acton MP Rupa Huq has warned.

Khalid Safi died in hospital after police had been called to Victoria Road on December 1, where he was found with stab wounds.

A post-mortem said the 18-year-old victim, who was recently living in Southwark, died due to a stab wound to the heart.

It follows a number of stabbings which have plagued Ealing and the rest of the London this year.

Man pleads not guilty to charges after 14-year-old boy was stabbed at Ealing McDonald's

In July, Sukhjinder Singh died after being stabbed in Southall , while in October a 14-year-old boy was hospitalised after being stabbed at a McDonald's in The Broadway, Ealing.

Commenting on the latest stabbing in North Acton, Dr Huq told getwestlondon : "This horrific crime has shocked us all.

"More government action is needed on knife crime as it is becoming increasingly prevalent across London.

"The police are still appealing for people to come forward. My heart goes out to the victim’s family for this tragic loss of life.

"Just this week I was lucky to take part in a scheme called 'Your Life You Choose' which tours Ealing borough’s secondary schools exposing kids to workshops including the police, magistracy and Feltham Young Offenders Institute showing what the consequences of knife crime are.

"We are lucky to have this initiative run by my constituent, Diana Dishley, a retired magistrate but it runs almost entirely on goodwill of the participants save for the Ministry of Justice doing some video filming for them some years ago at no cost."

Third man charged with the murder of Sukhjinder Singh in Southall

Officers arrested the woman in Redbridge on Wednesday (December 7) on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

She has been bailed to return on a date in January next year, after her arrest on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
