A number of knife bins have been dispersed across Hounslow as part of the Met-wide crackdown on the deadly weapons.

At least four surrender bins have been placed in Feltham, Hanworth and two in Hounslow where people can drop in sharp or bladed objects.

The drive to Stop Knife Crime is part of the Met’s efforts to take knives off the streets working with Words 4 Weapons, a charity which has distributed weapons bins across London to collect, and help save lives.

This week as police across the capital tackle knife crime, on Tuesday (April 26) Hounslow officers investigated reports of a number of suspects seen carrying knives in Hounslow town centre.

The incident comes after a spate of stabbings in the borough, including a violent knife attack which killed Sahil Roy of Ivybridge Estate in Isleworth on April 10.

His death was one of four stabbings in the borough in a fortnight which led to a step-up in stop-and-search patrols.

A 52-year-old man was also stabbed on Ivybridge Estate, near Asda, on April 1, while on April 13, a man in his 20s was found stabbed in Bedfont and later discharged from hospital.

The latest victim was a 16-year-old who was slashed with a knife in the leg at Inwood Park in Hounslow on April 15.
