A man who tried to murder a woman at her home in Brentford has been jailed for 15 years.

Amish Kansagra stabbed his 35-year-old victim a number of times at the property, in Clitherow Road, on June 22 last year, before fleeing and leaving her for dead.

The 28-year-old, of Clitherow Road, Brentford, handed himself in a few days later after police launched a major manhunt.

He denied attempted murder but was found guilty and was sentenced on Thursday (March 19) at Kingston Crown Court to 15 years in prison.

He was also given three years and six months in jail for possessing a knife and damaging property, with both terms to run concurrently.

The court said Kansagra had admitted actual bodily harm (ABH) and a second count of damaging property, for which he received no separate sentence.
