Metropolitan Police confiscated a kitchen knife from a juvenile after they had been taken to a police station.

Officers at Hounslow police station found the knife in the juvenile's possession.

The officers have now confiscated the weapon as part of Operation Sceptre and the juvenile has been arrested, police said on on Saturday (September 9).

Knife crime has become a serious issue in west London and since July 2015 Met Police launched Operation Sceptre with the aim of reducing knife crime and the number of families affected by knife crime across the whole of London.

The operation seeks to target those who not only carry and use knives but also the supply, access and importation of weapons.

During phase six of Operation Sceptre in October 2016, the police conducted the highest number of anti knife-crime activities on London boroughs and took 399 weapons off the streets.

On Friday (September 8) two teenagers were found guilty after they stabbed a man to death.

Selfridges worker Omar Raza, 23, was murdered in broad daylight by 18-year-olds Akol Garang, Lausanne Road, Hornsey, and George Rodriguez-Galean, of Gospatrick Road, Wood Green.
