A Kingsbury man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for producing crystal meth, police said.

Christiano Valente, 38, of Stag Lane, was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on August 24 after pleading guilty earlier in the month to production of crystal meth, possession of cocaine and possession of GBL - with a street value of over £500,000.

According to Met Police, on Thursday February 19, officers executed a warrant at a flat in Stag Lane, Kingsbury, and discovered a large quantity of crystal meth and an operational crystal meth laboratory in the garage.

A large quantity of Class A drugs were also found in the bedroom, police said.

Valente, an unemployed Brazilian national, and a 29-year-old woman were inside the flat at the time and cannabis was found in her handbag, the Met added.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of cannabis.

The 29-year-old woman was given a caution and Valente was charged on February 20.

Detective Constable Claire McGlynn, from Brent CID, said last week: "This is a good result for the community of Brent.

“A large amount of drugs were seized with a street value in excess of £500,000. This sends a clear message to those who produce illegal drugs that it will not be tolerated and will be dealt with vigorously by police."
