A serving Metropolitan police officer attached to Kensington and Chelsea has pleaded guilty to having an inappropriate relationship with a suspect.

Detective constable Grant McPherson, 36, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Thursday (March 23) and pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office.

Officers said the charge relates to an inappropriate relationship with a suspect, to whom McPherson was assigned to act as an investigating officer.

Two counts of supplying Class A drugs, cocaine, were dismissed.

DC McPherson also pleaded guilty to an offence under the Bail Act after failing to attend the court at the relevant time, requiring a bench warrant to be issued.

He has been bailed to appear for sentencing at the court on April 21 and remains suspended from duty.

DC McPherson was arrested at his home on August 9 last year following a public complaint, before he was charged on December 19.

Police misconduct proceedings will commence at the conclusion of criminal proceedings.
