A list of everything you need to know about the new Uxbridge Primark which is finally arriving

After years of waiting, Uxbridge shoppers might be delighted to hear that the Uxbridge Primark store is just two weeks away from opening.

In the lead up to the official launch of the High Street discount retailer, we have put together a list of everything you need to know.

What will be on sale?

Along with all the usual range of discount clothes, there have been a number of high profile items on sale at Primark stores across the country.

Retail value is unlikely for fans hoping to get their hands on the purse on Ebay

The much-loved character Chip from the Disney Beauty and the Beast film has been turned into a purse shaped like the famous cup.

Primark are selling this Beauty and the Beast item which is selling for FIVE times more on Ebay

Parents and fairy tale lovers have been bidding online after the item has sold out.

With the opening of the Uxbridge store, this might be a perfect chance to pick up one of the coveted accessories.

There has also been some controversy with the lines on offer at Primark, after a zombie TV show-themed t-shirt was pulled for being 'racist and offensive'.

The clothing promoting the hit US show The Walking Dead was spotted by outraged shopper Ian Lucraft, who was so offended by the “explicit” t-shirt that he complained to the company's chief executive.

Mr Lucraft pointed out that the slogan on the t-shirt read 'Eeny Meeny Miny Moe', which in past years was a racist nursery rhyme.

The store has been years in the making

Regular getwestlondon readers will remember this story has been rolling on for many years.

Plans to open the store were first discovered in a Hillingdon Council document after the Pavilions shopping centre was given planning permission in October 2014.

The shop was originally expected by open in time for Christmas 2016 but this was delayed, and on January 21 the company revealed that it would be open for business on Saturday, March 25.

Jobs at the store?

In December 2015, Primark announced there would be 155 jobs at the store and the Jobcentre Plus and Uxbridge college would both be helping to get unemployed people into work at the store.

Applications opened last October and vacancies were available for supervisors and retail assistants for both part time and full time roles.

The £4 item is selling for four times more on Ebay and this figure could get higher

Around 120 jobs were created at the new store and interviews were carried out in November.

How big will the store be?

This new Primark will stretch across two floors, with a total of 4,650sq/m of floor space, or just over half a football pitch.

It will have entrances from both Chequers Square and High Street just next to the KFC store.

What do people think?

Hillingdon Council has backed the arrival of the store, with cabinet member for regeneration, Cllr Douglas Mills speaking out to welcome Primark.

He previously said: “Primark's arrival is a great coup for the local community.

“Uxbridge is going through a complete transformation in the next few years that will further cement its reputation as an attractive and convenient west London shopping destination.

“Such progress shows that Hillingdon is working very well in attracting high quality businesses, bringing more jobs for local people.”
