A police investigation has launched after a man died on the street after being stabbed in west London.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Adelaide Street, WC2, at around 7.30am on Tuesday (December 27) morning after reports of a man being stabbed.

London Ambulance Services also rushed to the City of Westminster and said the man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.27am.

A Met Police official said: "The identity of the man is not known as yet, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

"Officers from Westminster CID are investigating together with colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

There has been no arrest and enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances."

Cordons are in place in and around the Adelaide Street and St Martin's Lane area of Westminster.
