A teenager from White City has been jailed for stabbing two men with a hunting knife in separate incidents in Hyde Park .

Joshua Clements, of Foxglove Street, was at a water fight and party in the west London park on July 19 2016 when he stabbed the men, causing them both serious injuries.

An Old Bailey judge on Friday (September 1) sentenced him to 14 years' imprisonment followed by an extended license for five years, during which time he will remain under the supervision of the National Offender Management Service.

Clements, aged just 17 at the time of the attacks, stabbed his first victim in the abdomen in the middle of the crowd who were enjoying the hot weather.

He stabbed his second victim in the chest and both arms in the middle of the road near Cumberland Gate as hordes of people fled the park.

While both victims suffered serious injuries, they have since recovered.

He managed to evade the police by wearing a camouflage-patterned face mask at the time of the attacks.

The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command traced him after he lifted his mask on his way out of the park.

He was arrested after being spotted by a police officer attached to a west London gang unit on July 27 2016.

Joshua Clements was just 17 years old when he stabbed and seriously injured two people

Police searched his White City home and found "a significant quantity" of drugs, as well as stolen property from two robberies committed in Hyde Park that same evening.

Police also found a large hunting knife which was forensically linked to blood from both of the assaults.

Clements pleaded guilty to two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent; one count of carrying an offensive weapon; two counts of handling stolen goods; and one count of possession with intent to supply (class A).

The large hunting knife Clements used in both stabbings was discovered by officers at his home in Foxglove Street, White City

Detective Inspector Dave Bolton, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Thousands of people had gathered in Hyde Park to enjoy a hot summer’s afternoon last year, but unfortunately Joshua Clements was intent on criminality.

"He is a violent individual who targeted two innocent people for no reason, thinking he could evade justice in the crowd.

"His victims sustained very serious injuries and I am pleased that despite his attempts to delay the judicial process, he has now received this substantial sentence.”
