Despite gale and intermittent rains, road and rail traffic has been remarkably unaffected today.

Biggest casualty from the fallout from Hurricane Gonzalo that hit the UK today has been air traffic at Heathrow, where 110 flights have been cancelled so far.

That figure includes Lufthansa flights disrupted by a pilots' strike and a spokesman for the airport says that this is less than 10% of its usual daily total of about 1,286 flights.

A spokesman for TfL said there were no weather related issues on transport network.

Apart from the usual early morning congestion, there were also no major problems on West London roads.

A spokesman for the Met Office said strong winds were likely to continue throughout the day, easing during the night.

Tonight is expected to be noticeably cooler, with minimum temperatures plunging to 2 degrees C.
