Average rents in Hounslow rocketed by 16% last year, according to new figures.
The average monthly rent in the borough for 2015/16 was £1,450 - up by £200 from the previous year - statistics from the Valuation Office Agency show.
Kensington and Chelsea saw the next biggest annual rise in west London, of 9.5%, with typical tenants there now forking out £2,492 a month.
Rents were also up, albeit by smaller margins, in Ealing , Harrow and Hillingdon , but there was no change in average prices in Hammersmith & Fulham or Westminster .
Hillingdon is the cheapest place in west London to rent, with the average property costing tenants £1,150 a month.
Across England, the average monthly rental price is £650 - up by £50 from 2014/15. In London, it stands at £1,452.
More than 1,800 people recently signed a petition raising concerns about how affordable 'affordable' housing at a development in Ealing will be.
