Bingo and blow-up boobs have been used at a tea party to help educate women with learning difficulties about the importance of breast cancer screenings and check-ups.

The event happened at Elgin Close in Shepherd’s Bush, and was organised by Maura Ireland and the charity Yarrow.

She’s been working collaboratively with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Hammersmith and Fulham Mencap to try and reach out to local women with learning disabilities, after research showed the uptake of breast screening among women with learning difficulties is well below the national average.

The tea party took place on Monday (October 31) and Maura said: “I’m confident [it] will help educate this vulnerable group of people in a fun and accessible way so they understand the need for, and the process of, screening programmes.
