One of London's most spectacular Christmas lights displays is back, and this year the couple behind it have outdone themselves.

The House O' Christmas in Longford Avenue, Bedfont , has become somewhat of a local institution, and people travel for miles to view the spectacle each year.

This year Jason Hoban and his wife Lisa have built an illuminated Disney-style castle in their driveway from scratch.

Mr Hoban said they were working until 11pm most nights for four weeks, cutting, painting and varnishing the wood for the magical display.

There was so much work involved that the lights, which usually go on at the start of the month, were not switched on until last Saturday, December 12.

This is the 26th year running the couple have transformed their house into a Christmas wonderland, and once again they are raising money for Shooting Star Chase, which runs children's hospices, and for Jaden Cornelious Fundraising.

This Sunday (December 20), from 5pm, a host of Disney characters and other children's favourites, including those from Frozen and Toy Story, will greet visitors, following a private viewing that afternoon for poorly youngsters from Shooting Star Chase.

"We're 12 days late this year but we're delighted with how it looks. It's hard to believe four weeks ago it was about 40 sheets of 4x8 plywood," said Mr Hoban, 49, who runs a removals firm.

"It's so well known now we've had people coming from Molesey to see it. We had around 1,000 visitors on the Sunday last year, and we're expecting around twice that this weekend."

Mr Hoban and his wife, who have three children, chose to support Shooting Star Chase as they said the charity would have helped their late son Tommy, who died of a muscle wasting condition aged just five, had it been around then.

If you can't make it along this Sunday, the lights will be on each day from around 5pm, with the Hobans planning to leave them up until the end of the month.
