A woman believed to be in her mid 20s has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Hounslow on Tuesday (January 17).

Emergency services were called to Green Lane at around 9.35am after reports of a collision between a car and two pedestrians.

The two pedestrians, both women thought to be in their 20s, were rushed to hospital but sadly one has died.

Her next of kin has been informed.

Police announced at around 7.30pm last night that the woman had passed away.

An appeal has now been launched by the Metropolitan Police to trace anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

The car, a black Range Rover, did not stop at the scene but was stopped shortly afterwards.

The driver of the car, aged 39, was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and was taken to hospital.

He has since been discharged and taken into custody, and has been further arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is carrying out enquiries and has urged any witnesses or anyone with information to call 0208 543 5157.
