A young woman is fighting for her life in hospital following a serious collision in Hounslow .

A second female was also rushed to hospital with life changing injuries following the crash in Green Lane in Hounslow West on Tuesday (January 17) morning.

Both pedestrians reported to be in their 20s were hit by a car at around 9.30am.

Police said the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "A car was in collision with two pedestrians - both women.

"Both the women are believed to be aged in their mid 20s.

"Both were taken to hospital. One has injuries treated as life threatening.

"The other has injuries treated as life changing.

"A car failed to stop at the scene."

Green Lane is closed and there are major delays due to investigation work between the Causeway and Salisbury Road junctions.

Congestion has been reported back to the Staines Road junction and to the Ariel Way junction.

Bus route 423 has been placed on diversion.

A driver was later stopped according to the police.

A 39-year-old driver has been arrested for causing injury by dangerous driving.

Police were still at the scene of the collision carrying out investigations at 1pm.
