A man has died after being hit by a train at Hounslow Central tube station.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called just after 10.15am on Wednesday (March 1) to reports of a person being struck by a train in Hounslow.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended but the man died at the scene.

Hounslow Central station is closed until further notice.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area as Lampton Road has been closed in both directions due to the incident.

Hounslow MPS reported on Twitter "Due to an incident at Hounslow Central Underground Station Lampton Road is completely closed.

"Please avoid the area to minimise disruption!"

Man dies after being hit by train in Hounslow

A number of buses including 120 and H20 are also on diversion.

Officers are not treating the death as suspicious.

They are working to contact next of kin.

A spokesman for BTP said: "A person has sadly died after being struck by a train at Hounslow Central Underground Station in London.

"We were called at 10.17am today and attended alongside colleagues from the ambulance service, but a man died at the scene.

"The death is not believed to be suspicious and we are now working to contact his next of kin."

This is the second fatality on the Piccadilly Line this week, after a man died after being hit by a train at Hounslow East station on Monday (February 27).

Lampton Road has also re-opened following the earlier incident at Hounslow Central tube station.

However it is down to one lane as emergency services continue to work in the area, Hounslow Police reported on Twitter.
