Honey G, Dermot O'Leary and Louis Walsh turn brokers to raise money for Shooting Star Hospice

Celebrities and royalty took to the phone to close on big money deals on ICAP charity day

X Factor's Honey G, judge Louis Walsh and presenter Dermot O'Leary stepped into the shoes of brokers for the day as part of a fundraising campaign.

The celebrities became City brokers and took to the phones on the trading floor to close big money deals for ICAP's annual charity day and helped drum funds for Shooting Star Chase.

The charity enlisted the help of Royal patron, HRH Sophie, Countess of Wessex, vice-president Tony Hadley, patrons Jackie and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and The Xtra Factor’s Rylan Clark-Neal.

The funds will be used to give a much-needed makeover to the Guildford-based hospice, Christopher's, with works due to start next year.

It will undergo improvements to the bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas as well as provide the latest facilities for children with life-limiting conditions and their families in London and Surrey.

Karen Sugarman, director of fundraising at Shooting Star Chase, said: “It was a huge privilege and honour to be one of the ICAP Charity Day’s beneficiaries this year and we can’t thank ICAP enough for the opportunity to be part of this fabulous day.

"Our patrons and celebrities did an amazing job negotiating as brokers and really got into the spirit of the day.

"We appreciate their time and dedication to the cause, and their help in raising funds for the much-needed refurbishment of one of our hospices."
