Plans to build more than 300 homes in Hillingdon have been unveiled.

Public consultations have been held on Hillingdon Gateway, a new 377-home housing development proposed for a site previously earmarked for a supermarket.

Meyer Homes is planning on building the homes on the site Tesco had earmarked to build a superstore, hotel and 128 homes where the Master Brewer Hotel once stood.

Tesco developers Spenhill had received planning permission for a superstore, a six-storey 70 bedroom hotel and 125 new homes on the site in 2014 but work never started.

However, after facing financial difficulty, the Master Brewer site and 13 others in London and the South East, were sold to Meyer Homes (then known as Meyer Bergman) in October 2015.

The new proposals are for 377 new homes on the six-acre brownfield site behind Hillingdon station, sandwiched between the A40 and Freezeland Way.

Around 59% of the homes are to be "family homes" while there is also a retail unit and affordable workspaces in the proposal.

The entire development could benefit from 2,000 square metres of communal amenity and play space, as well as 1,600 square metres of private gardens.

At present the tallest buildings around the outside would have nine-storeys while buildings closer to the centre would have five.

The scheme has proposed 201 resident parking spaces, 12 commercial and visitor spaces and two car club cars.

Consultations were held on Tuesday (July 18) at the site and Thursday (July 20) at St Giles' Church, Ickenham.

Following the consultations, Meyer Homes is hoping to submit its planning application in summer 2017, and anticipate a decision later this year.

A spokesman for Meyer Homes stated “The Former Master Brewer site off Freezeland Way, which we are now referring to as Hillingdon Gateway, has long been the subject of development proposals.

"Given the site’s history and importance, our project team has been considering the most appropriate approach to bringing the site back into meaningful use, in the context of the increasing need for new homes in Hillingdon and across the capital.

"The public exhibition events provide the community the opportunity to view the new plans for the site and to give us feedback as we develop our planning application.”
