A rogue landlord's 'bed in shed' was demolished after ignoring planning enforcement notices for FOUR years.

Hillingdon Council took action to destroy the bed in shed at Windsor Avenue, Hillingdon , on Monday 19 October.

Mrs Darshan Kingra was previously prosecuted by the council’s private sector housing team for operating an unfit house in multiple occupation in May 2011.

She was later prosecuted again under Planning legislation.

After: The illegal dwelling was demolished

After failing to comply with the two planning enforcement notices to demolish the bed in shed, Mrs Kingra was found guilty last May, resulting in a fine of £7,500.

The court also awarded costs of £2,500 back to the council.

After the prosecution, Mrs Kingra still failed to demolish the illegal bed in shed and so the council’s planning enforcement team took action to demolish it in October 2015.

Cabinet Member for Planning, Transportation and Recycling, Councillor Keith Burrows said: “The council will always clamp down on rogue landlords and recoup all costs incurred.

"In this particular case, we gave more than enough reasonable notice to this individual and she ignored the law on more than one occasion, resulting in the council taking the necessary action to demolish the bed in shed.

"We will keep being vigilant to stop this from happening in the future.”
