The man who died after he was brutally attacked at an immigration centre in Hillingdon has been named.

Detainee Tarek Chowdhury, aged 64, died 12 hours after he was assaulted on Thursday (December 1).

A 31-year-old man has now been charged for the murder of Mr Chowdhury.

Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre

Zana Assad Yusif who was in the care of Colnbrook Immigration Removal centre in Harmondsworth , West Drayton , appeared in custody at Hendon Magistrates' Court on Saturday (December 3).

He was charged on Friday (December 2) following the fatal assault of the 64-year-old man at the immigration facility near Heathrow Airport the previous day.

The Metropolitan Police were called at around 9.15am on Thursday (December 1) after the victim was assaulted.

He was taken to a west London hospital but died 12 hours later at around 9.30pm.

Detectives from Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Mark Lawson are investigating.
