A Hillingdon councillor will take on four marathons in four days, running in excess of 100 miles for charity.

Jagjit Singh, a Labour party councillor who represents the Yeading ward, has so far taken part in 182 marathons since 2004, covering all seven continents.

The 56-year-old runner's current personal best time is four hours, three minutes and 39 seconds for one marathon.

His first attempt at running a gruelling four marathons in four days will kick off in Caldecotte, Milton Keynes, on Thursday February 4 and will carry on through until Sunday February 7.

Cllr Singh said: “I ran three consecutive marathons in October last year in Milton Keynes and it was difficult but a real achievement for me.

"It won’t be easy running four but I’m ready for the challenge.

"I chose the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, as I would like to support each of the local charities it is supporting. I’d like to raise more than £2,000, if possible.”

The mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr George Cooper's, charity appeal for 2015/16 is named 'Healthy and Happy in Hillingdon'.

His chosen principal charity is the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK.
