Strips of pork were spotted hanging out to dry - with the laundry - at the back of an Eastcote Chinese takeaway.

The meat could be seen hanging out in the open at the back of the premises, tied up by string hanging to a metal rack.

A baffled passer-by made the bizarre discovery at the food outlet in Field End Road on Thursday (November 16).

The Eat Well Chinese takeaway itself serves up a range of pork dishes, such as barbecued pork chop suey and roast pork Chinese style.

But manager Andy Yeung insisted the unconventional hanging meat was not for customer consumption.

He told getwestlondon : "I'm sorry about that, we won't do it again.

"It was for our own food, it was being left out to dry for our own Chinese food, definitely not for the customers."

Mmm appetising...

Eat Well Chinese Takeaway scored a Food Hygiene Rating of two or requires improvement after its latest Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspection on February 24 2016.

Hillingdon Council is investigating the incident.

A spokesperson for the council said: "We take the safety and well being of our residents very seriously and so can confirm that the premises referred to have been subject to a full food hygiene inspection and investigation to address these issues - and we will be addressing the outcomes with the business concerned.

"The council will always actively challenge and enforce against any organisation that does not comply with food hygiene regulations."
