Inspectors have praised a school in Heston for transforming its fortunes after being ordered to improve.

Springwell Junior School was rated 'good' by Ofsted inspectors in a report published on September 17 - the second highest score available.

The school in Vicarage Farm Road, Heston, had been deemed 'requires improvement' following its last full inspection in 2013.

But inspectors, who made their latest visit in June this year, were impressed by the changes that had been made.

They praised headteacher Debra Kane and her staff for making "significant improvements", which had resulted in "good teaching and improved achievement for all pupils". They also hailed the behaviour of pupils, who they described as "polite" and "friendly".

However, they said the school fell short of being "outstanding" because, among other reasons, the proportion of top-achieving students was not as high as it could be.
