A Heathrow employee landed a jumbo payout by finishing as runner-up in a poker tournament with more than 3,000 competitors.

Pak Chung, who is a ground staff worker at the airport, won £21,100 for his efforts at the Grand Prix Poker Tour event held at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.

The 38-year-old, of Hounslow , who has been playing poker for a decade, is already planning how to spend the windfall.

"I am probably going to splash out on a car and will probably look at a winter holiday" he said.

"Then I will be looking to continue my success at Old Trafford (the next venue on the poker tour) in January!"

The tournament, which had a £250,000 prize pool and a £70 buy-in, began on Saturday (November 28).

Competitors could choose to play online or at Stamford Bridge on the opening day, with all the action taking place at Chelsea's home stadium once the numbers had been whittled down on day two.

The competition, which featured players from across the country, was sponsored by online poker giant partypoker and Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham.
