Two men were arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences on Saturday morning (July 1).
The men, both aged 21 and from Leicester and Birmingham respectively, were detained just after 10am after landing on a flight from Turkey.
West Midlands Counter Terrorism detectives made the arrests.
The men were then being transported back to the West Midlands for questioning on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts, the force said.
The pair were detained under Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) legislation.
The arrests were intelligence-led and there was no immediate threat to the public, according to West Midlands Police.
The news came just two days after a woman was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences at Heathrow as she arrived on a flight from Istanbul.
Officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command arrested the 21-year-old woman on Thursday evening (June 29).
The woman was arrested at just past 9pm on suspicion of preparation of acts of terrorism under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
According to police, the arrest was Syria-related and the woman was taken to a south London police station where she was being detained under PACE legislation.
