Shoppers out in Kensington stopped and gawped when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were seen getting in some Christmas essentials.
However, although Kate Middleton had been spotted shopping in Chelsea days earlier, the sighting was unfortunately not of the real Royal couple, who live round the corner in Kensington Palace.
They were, in fact, professional look-alikes Simon Watkinson and Heidi Agan who were shopping in the newly opened Wilko store in the High Street.
The store opened last week, and branch manager Harlen Holding said: “There were more than a few shocked faces and plenty of double-takes as Kate and Wills paid their unexpected visit to our brand new Kensington store.
“The truth is, of course, that it wasn’t actually the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but one of the UK’s most popular Kate and Wills look-alikes. The effect their visit had was no less dramatic though.
“We’re hugely proud of our new location and it’s fair to say that our store has everything any self-respecting king, queen, prince or princess would need to make their Christmas a right royal occasion.”
