A young man remains in hospital nearly one week after he was stabbed several times in a street in Hayes.

The man, in his 30s, is no longer in a critical condition following the violent attack in Yeading Lane on Wednesday night (October 25).

Police confirmed he is still in hospital but in a stable condition, on Tuesday morning (October 31).

Officers from the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called at around 8.48pm to a row of shops in Yeading Lane.

Police said there were reports of a number of suspects arriving at the scene in a vehicle, one allegedly seen carrying a gun.

A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

No further arrests have been made.

The latest incident was the fourth stabbing in the area causing great concern among residents.

Hillingdon Police previously said it is "vigorously pursuing" investigations into these crimes and has been focusing on tackling knife crime in the borough.

Chief Inspector Graham Durn, of Hillingdon Police, said: "Knife crime remains a high priority for the Metropolitan Police Service and here at Hillingdon we are undertaking a range of activities to combat knife carriage.

"There have been some incidents over the last few months which have involved knives and violence and we have made arrests and are vigorously pursuing investigations in order to identify and prosecute those involved."
