Melissa, who recently met and discussed her plans with Twilight superstar Kristen Stewart , said: “This film was a real labour of love for me to make.

"It’s quite hard to get a message across in a short film but I feel we did that with Podsnappery.

“The film hopefully conveys my sense of humour as well a serious approach to film acting and directing.”

The screening party, which saw the cast appeared in full costume, was also attended by Kara Kandarakis, who is directing Melissa’s upcoming project - a virtual reality Jack the Ripper thriller called Reconstructing Jack.

The actress said she was inspired to write Podsnappery after reading Charles Dickens’ novel, Our Mutual Friend, which features a Mr Podsnap, and the film was shot in picturesque Bath, Somerset, as well as Chiswick House.

She now intends to present Podsnappery on the international film festival circuit during the remainder of 2016 and in 2017.
