Police have issued harrowing CCTV footage showing the moment a vulnerable Northolt man came face-to-face with his eventual killer.

Peter Fasoli, 58, met Jason Marshall on gay dating site Badoo and the pair arranged to meet at his one-bed bungalow for bondage sex.

Marshall, 28, turned up with a police utility belt, handcuffs and law enforcement gear and "arrested" Mr Fasoli for "being a spy" in the sex game before stripping him, tying him up and gagging him.

The former male escort then threatened the computer repairman, who lived on Ruebens Road, with a large hunting knife and demanded his PIN numbers.

Marshall went to a cash machine and returned to the house, where Mr Fasoli was still naked and tied to his bed, before smothering him with cling film.

Jason Marshall will face sentencing at a future date

The east Londoner then set fire to the home in order to cover his tracks. He was convicted of murder and arson at the Old Bailey on Wednesday (August 9).

Following his conviction, police issued just some of the CCTV footage which eventually helped bring Marshall to justice.

It transpired the entire incident had been inadvertently filmed by Mr Fasoli and the footage was discovered by his nephew on his uncle's hard drive.

Two years prior to the discovery, an inquest had ruled Mr Fasoli died of asphyxiation as a result of the fire at his home, which was deemed to be caused by the lightbulb above his bed.

Jason Marshall pretended to be a police officer and MI5 agent while murdering Peter Fasoli

The CCTV footage was shown to jurors at the Old Bailey , who convicted Marshall after just an hour of deliberation.

Marshall, who has been convicted of murder and attempted murder in Italy and was serving a 16-year jail sentence, did not react as the verdict was announced.

Sentencing is to be carried out at a later date.

Three weeks after Mr Fasoli's murder, Marshall murdered 67-year-old Vincenzo Iale in the victim's flat in Rome.

He then met 54-year-old Umberto Gismondi and tortured him to extract money from him.

Italian courts found him guilty of murder and attempted murder and jailed him for 16 years, but he was brought to the UK to face charges for Mr Fasoli's murder.

The pair had agreed to meet at Mr Fasoli's Ruebens Road bungalow for bondage sex, which was recorded on the victim's webcam

Detective Inspector James Stevenson of the Homicide and Major Crime Command said: "We are pleased that today's verdict [Wednesday] has brought Marshall to account for the brutal killing of Peter.

"This was a cold blooded attack, during which Marshall cynically gained the trust of a vulnerable older man to get entry into his home, then subjected him to a horrific and prolonged ordeal and ruthlessly ignoring Peter's cries for help knowing he was fighting to stay alive.

"Marshall then did everything he could to evade being brought to justice.

"We would like to thank Peter's family for the determination and strength they have shown in assisting us throughout this complex and challenging investigation."
