Harrow has one of the lowest levels of alcohol-related deaths in the UK according to new figures.

Figures from Public Health England - compiled by our specialist data team -show there were 30.5 alcohol-related deaths per 100,000 people in Harrow in 2013, the fourth lowest rate in England.

Kensington & Chelsea wasn't far behind with 33 deaths per 100,000 people, one-and-a-half times lower than the England rate of 45.3 per 100,000 people.

The number of men dying due to alcohol in Brent, however, has hit the highest level in six years - with 65 alcohol-related deaths per 100,000 people in 2013. This is the highest level since figures began in 2008, up 10.9% from 2012.

Across the whole of England the alcohol-related mortality rate has increased by a marginal 1.1%.

The way in which the data was gathered was updated this year, with previous estimates excluding poisonings such as Ethanol and Methanol included as an underlying cause.
