A domestic abuser is behind bars for repeatedly attacking his loving girlfriend - while serving a suspended sentence for assaulting a security guard - all because he "couldn't get his way".

Florin Fau, 23, of Vaughan Road, Harrow , attacked his partner of 16 months - grabbing her by the throat to the point that she "couldn't breathe" after she told him she was upset over his drug-taking.

Weeks later, he showed up at her workplace, in Wealdstone , threatening to "break her legs" and smashing through the building's glass when she hid in fear from him.

Former BT Internet engineer, Fau, was jailed for a total of 16 weeks on Thursday (December 14) after he was found guilty during a trial at Willesden Magistrates' Court.

The court heard how on October 4 this year, his then girlfriend returned home to the flat they shared to find the defendant in bed - despite asking him to leave the previous night.

Mr Wettreich, prosecuting, said: "He pushed the complainant, slaps her multiple times, he grabs her causing her to fall to the floor, where he is holding her and picks her up and grabs her round the neck, in fact by the throat."

The attack only ended when the victim's housemate came home and she managed to get away and call the police.

Fau told the court: "When I see police at the front of the house I leave at the back entrance.

"I ran because I already had a suspended sentence and if I do something I go to prison."

The court heard how Romanian national Fau had a previous conviction for theft and assaulting a security guard at Brent Cross shopping centre after stealing an item from Hollister.

Mr Wettreich asked the defendant: "You strike me as an angry man. Are you?

"You were convicted of assault only in July this year. What happened there?" to which Fau claimed he "didn't remember".

Video footage showed to the court saw the defendant shouting at his girlfriend's colleague at the door, who was trying to keep him away, during the following assault on October 24.

He is seen to push open the door and the victim flinches. Her colleague stands in between them and asks him to "come peacefully".

After further commotion, the defendant is heard to shout "I didn't f**king touch anyone" followed by "shut the f**k up" at the colleague.

'You are an angry person'

Mr Wettreich said: "What happened was that you got angry and smashed the glass... you did it because you were angry, that video shows you doing it.

"You're trying to push your way in aren't you? She's trying to stop you coming in because you assaulted her.

"You don't need to touch her, you've frightened her - you put your arm out. She flinched... you are an angry person. You assault people when you don't get your way. Like you did on the October 4."

Visibly agitated, Fau, who was dressed in ripped jeans and a t-shirt, replied: "That's not true. Prove it. Try to prove it."

'You admitted that you could not get your own way'

Delivering her guilty verdict, chair of the bench Sue Kayser said the victim "clearly loves" Fau.

"She was treated as a hostile witness by the prosecution but she clearly told the court last week that you punched her, grabbed her throat and she got scared when you smashed the window," said Mrs Kayser.

"She clearly flinched on the footage.

"Your evidence today was vague, evasive and inconsistant.

"You consistently contradicted yourself - denying evidence and remembering facts a moment later.

"You admitted that you could not get your own way, and pulled her and grabbed her arm. This amounts to an assault."

Magistrates handed Fau a 12-week prison sentence for breaching his previous suspended sentence, and 28 days jail for each assault, to be served concurrently, but consecutively to the suspended sentence.

He was ordered to pay £600 in compensation for the criminal damage caused to the victim's workplace, which must be paid by April 25 2018 by a collection order.
