A Harrow man has been jailed for 12 weeks after a knife was found in his underpants.

Sahal Amin, 23, of Moorhouse Road, was found guilty of possessing a knife in a public place at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Thursday (August 13), following a trial, police said.

On Thursday June 25, police from Wealdstone Proactive Unit were conducting patrols in High Street, Wealdstone, when they noticed Amin and another man acting suspiciously, officers said.

As police approached the men they split up, but both men were stopped and spoken to, according to a Met Police spokesman.

Police noticed that Amin's trousers and belt were undone and he was nervous and shaking. He was searched and a knife was found hidden in his underpants, police added.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article, charged on June 26 and found guilty at trial.

Speaking after the hearing, PC James Cornelius, from the Wealdstone Proactive Unit, said: "This is a great result for the community of Harrow and specifically Wealdstone.

“I am pleased that this dangerous individual has been taken off the streets. I would implore anyone with information about those who carry weapons or store weapons in the locality to contact us.

“We will continue to target gang members and any one who carries knives."
