Two men have been arrested for allegedly possessing two huge knives after a police helicopter chase in Harrow.

Plain clothes emergency response officers spotted a silver Lexus car acting in a suspicious manner in Rayners Lane on Tuesday (August 22).

Harrow Police say the vehicle allegedly failed to stop, so uniformed police units were sent out to help and after a short pursuit the vehicle came to a stop in Butler Avenue, near Harrow Town Centre.

A spokesperson for Harrow Police said: "The tyres had been blown out.

"The occupants decamped and ran off.

Many Harrow residents took to social media after seeing and hearing a police helicopter involved in the chase, at around 11pm.

Both men were taken to a north London police station having been arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons and failing to stop for police.

The car was also allegedly uninsured.
