A married couple from Romania have been charged with trafficking a young teenager into Harrow and allegedly forcing her into prostitution.

Marius Ciubotariu, 30, and his wife, Andreea Ciubotariu, 26, both of Magnolia Court, Harrow were charged yesterday (August 21) with human trafficking an 18 year-old woman into London, after they supposedly promised to give her work as a babysitter.

The pair will appear in custody at Hendon Magistrates Court today (August 22).

Marius is charged with four counts of rape, trafficking into the UK for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution and possessing false documents with intent.

Andreea is charged with two counts of rape, trafficking into the UK for sexual exploitation and controlling prostitution.

It is alleged that last year, the couple arranged for the 18-year-old to travel from Romania to the UK with the promise of employing her as a babysitter, she arrived by coach in January 2013 and was taken to an address in Harrow.

The couple were arrested on January 29 following an investigation by the Met's Human Trafficking and Kidnap Unit.
