Two people have been taken to A&E following a shop fire in Harlesden .

The patients were seen to by paramedics at the scene, in Park Parade, and assessed for smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation before being taken to hospital.

Their latest conditions are unknown.

Some 35 firefighters were needed to bring the flames under control as the blaze tore through part of the building’s ground floor on Wednesday (April 5) morning.

The brigade was called at 7.38am, and motorists were advised to steer clear of the area.

Crews from Park Royal, North Kensington, Acton and Wembley fire stations attended.

Station manager Jerome Kumedzina said: “The fire affected a large part of the building’s ground floor, as well as part of the first floor and our crews worked incredibly hard to get it under control.

“We will remain at the scene for some time damping down any remaining hot spots. Park Parade is still cordoned off while we continue to deal with the incident so motorists should avoid the area.”

On social media, one Twitter user reported seeing “lots of fire engines, police and ambulance” in the area.

Fire crews remain at the scene damping down.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
