The body of a man found in hedgerow in a rural Harefield road has been identified by police as Leocardo Loney.

The 83-year-old was discovered in Breakspear Road North by officers on Saturday (October 14), at around 1.45pm.

A special post-mortem was due to take place on Wednesday (October 18) at Fulham Mortuary, but police have said in an updated statement that his cause of death remains unexplained.

Hillingdon Police is continuing with its enquiries, and says his next of kin have been informed.

Scotland Yard had previously said the body may have been in the hedgerow for several weeks.

Police issued a missing persons appeal for a man called Leocardo Loney in August after he went missing from his care home.

Several updates were issued in the following months as officers became increasingly concerned for his welfare.

On Tuesday morning (October 17) police closed Breakspear Road North from 9am to 11am to carry out a thorough search of the site near where the body was found.
