A man who stole a handbag with around £300 cash in it has been sent to prison.

David Rodriguez struck at The Gridle Diner in West Drayton on April 26.

The money in the handbag was never recovered and Rodriguez was told he would have to pay his victim compensation when he appeared in court.

Once arrested by eagle-eyed police officers approximately a week later, the defendant was also charged with a number of other offences, on top of theft of a handbag.

They are:

  • Driving with no insurance
  • Driving whilst disqualified
  • Breach of Criminal Behaviour Order

Rodriguez, 30 and from Yew Avenue in West Drayton, was sentenced at Willesden Magistrates’ Court to 20 weeks in prison on Wednesday (May 17).

He was also disqualified from driving for 31 months and ordered to pay £350 compensation to the theft victim.
