A major road in Hammersmith has been closed due to a burst water main, leading to severe rush hour delays.

King Street is closed from Hammersmith station past the Kings Mall Shopping Centre to Studland Street.

Bus routes 27, 190, 266, 267, 391, H91, N9 and N11 had to be diverted around the closure.

Thames Water is carrying out ongoing emergency works which have been ongoing since Saturday (July 15) when the incident first started.

The closure has led to increase rush hour congestion on the roads

Motorists are told to expect increased congestion on the gyratory on Monday morning and there is severe congestion on Hammersmith Broadway, Hammersmith Bridge Road, Shepherd's Bush Road and other roads in the surrounding area.

Hammersmith and Fulham Police tweeted a picture of the standing water in King Street on Saturday morning, saying "please avoid for time being."
