An elderly pedestrian has tragically died after a bus collision in Hammersmith Broadway, police has confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the incident at around 5pm on Sunday (October 8).

According to police, the 78-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 5pm on Sunday (October 8) to Hammersmith Broadway to reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.

"Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

"The elderly pedestrian, a 78-year-old woman, was attended to by paramedics, but sadly was pronounced dead at the scene at 5.29pm.

"Her next of kin are in the process of being informed.

"The bus driver is assisting officers.

"There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."

The force is urging any eyewitnesses or anyone with information to contact the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit at Merton on 020 8543 5157, 101 or Tweet via @MetCC.

The section of road has been cordoned off between Subway and Hammersmith underground station.

Hammersmith Gyratory remains closed and there is queuing traffic in nearby roads including King Street, Newport Road, Studland Street and Glenthorne Road.
