Screening around Grenfell Tower is now expected to go up towards the end of this month.

It had been expected that work covering the burnt-out building would begin sometime in the middle of August .

However, the Grenfell Response Team (GRT) told getwestlondon that is now expected to take place later.

A spokesman said a crane is in place to help with the scaffolding and screening when it is ready to proceed.

At a Kensington and Chelsea Council meeting held in July, a Grenfell resident said the sight of the burnt out building was “terrifying” the community .

She said: “When you look at that building you see the souls of the dead in there.”

GRT said at the time the tower would be gradually covered, with full coverage expected sometime in November.

On Monday (August 14) it was reported Grenfell could become a sky-high canvas for the drawings of children , as officials begin to consider the building’s future two months on from the tragedy.

The building has remained uncovered to help with the recovery process and allow investigators carry out their work.
