Writing on the event, Movement for Justice By Any Means Necessary said: "Bring Down the Government - Shut Down London."

Adding: "In one of the wealthiest boroughs in the country, the demands from poor and working class residents for the simple right to safety and security have been repeatedly and disdainfully ignored.

"Combustible cladding was put on Grenfell Tower to hide raw concrete from the delicate eyes of wealthy homeowners and millionaire investors with no concern for safety.

"With last week’s election result we delivered a blow to the racist scapegoating of immigrants, which has been the fallback policy of politicians in all of the main parties for more than three decades.

"It’s led to the humiliation of Theresa May and a unstable government in coalition with the ultra right, unionist anti-Catholic, anti-LGBT, anti-women’s rights Democratic Unionist Party.

"We’ve felt our power. We’ve tasted victory. Now we must escalate our actions to take down this rotten government, which has lost all authority to govern."

Taking to Twitter, people have condemned the event.

The Prime Minister, Theresa May has announced survivors will be provided with emergency funds, with £5million being pledged to those affected.

She admitted: "The support on the ground for families who needed help or basic information in the initial hours after this appalling disaster was not good enough."

The Prime Minister faced criticism from those in the community, as she visited only to meet members of the emergency services.

She returned a day later to meet with those who have been left homeless.

Protests were held across the capital on Friday (June 16) outside Downing Street and at the headquarters of Kensington and Chelsea Council at Kensington Town Hall, where some protestors stormed the building, before they were ushered back outside.
